The book is about a Kansas girl and her dream of playing college softball. Ellie Rose is shy and she’s a girl of few words. She’s about to live her dream, but she has doubts as to whether she can live up to the expectations demanded of her as a college softball player. At it’s core, the book is about transitions.

First, we follow Ellie Rose’s transition from high school to college softball ballplayer. We see her transition from a high school student to a college freshman. And we see her transition from a child to an adult living on her own in a college dorm with Diana Shaw, the cocky, fireballing pitcher from Clearwater.
